Veep Wins Outstanding Comedy Series for the Second Year in a Row

Rhea Seehorn arrives at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. “I have not always been a good man but I play one hell of a woman”.

HBO fan favourite Game of Thrones is hoping to keep its best drama series crown after an acclaimed sixth season.

Elsewhere, Rami Malek, 35, who is of Egyptian descent, is a front-runner for his first Emmy for his lead role as a socially awkward computer hacker in USA Network’s “Mr. Robot”.

So here’s the prediction: The big winners on Emmy night are HBO and FX, fueled by strong showings by “Game of Thrones” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson”.

ABC’s four-hour telecast begins Sunday with “Countdown to the Emmy Awards: Red Carpet Live” at 4:00 pm (2300 GMT). Please, hold on! “The greatest oblivion this year in this category is Jessica Jones”.

That shift likely gave “Game of Thrones” a lift in breaking through with its first best drama series Emmy previous year in the HBO show’s fifth season, after being repeatedly nominated but overlooked.

This year’s 11 wins so far not only closes in on the series record 12 Emmys that GoT got its hands on in 2015.

“Thank you, Ellen DeGeneres, thank you, Hillary Clinton”, she said, naming two of the famous people she’s caricatured on the show.

There will also be red carpet fashion (will there be a color theme this year?) and host Jimmy Kimmel’s performance to critique.

The FX mini-series scored wins for outstanding limited series and for some of its actors.

Jeffrey Tambor, who plays her transgender ex-spouse and is vying to repeat as best comedy actor, shared serious words about the series.

“Game of Thrones” and “Veep” are the defending champs at Sunday’s Emmy Awards, but contenders including “Mr. Robot” and “black-ish” could get a boost from voting changes. An Emmy award for “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who portrays vice-president-turned-president, would be her fifth best comedy actress win. “I think that “Veep” has torn down the wall between comedy and politics”. This year’s Emmys will be a treat for viewers, and nominees-don’t miss it!

However, not Beyonce. The pop superstar, who is nominated for outstanding direction for the HBO special for her visual album “Lemonade”, is assigned to the second row behind Liev Schreiber.

Paulson is nominated for her portrayal of Clark in the FX series: “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story”.

Kate McKinnon offered an emotional – and at times seemingly muted by the censors – speech after her work on “Saturday Night Live” won her the outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series Emmy.

The series focuses on the white female prosecutor convinced of Simpson’s guilt and the star’s so-called “Dream Team” of lawyers that persuaded the predominantly black jury of reasonable doubt in the 1995 trial.

“I’m looking for any upset by an underdog that tells me that the integrity of the award is still intact”, O’Neil said. But there are a few Mass. types up for awards, and since we only care about ourselves, here’s a little Boston cheat sheet for tonight’s show.
