Vehicle bomb attack at Turkish police station kills 5

Turkish PM said that after detected that Daesh carried out the attack in Sultanahmet, Istanbul, Turkish artillery carried out more than 500 shoots against Daesh positions in Syria and Iraq.

The Indonesian government condemned the bomb that killed civilians and urged all Indonesians in Turkey to stay cautious and avoid crowded places.

De Maiziere said he sees “no reason to refrain from traveling to Turkey” and no reason for people already there to break off their trips.

According to the Foreign Ministry’s data, there are 708 Indonesians living in Istanbul, 310 of them students.

The Wall Street Journal confirms this, noting that Fadli entered Turkey specifically as a “Syrian refugee”, and that he was “fingerprinted in Turkey last week while registering as a refugee with immigration officials”.

On Wednesday, Davutoglu contended that in addition to the Islamic State group, other forces he did not identify were behind Tuesday’s attack and were using the extremist group as a “pawn”.

One of the suspects was detained in Istanbul late on Tuesday, Turkey’s interior minister Efkan Ala said during a news conference with his visiting German counterpart.

Among the 74 arrested over the last two days were 16 people suspected of planning a major attack in Ankara, Anatolia news agency said.

A spokesman for the Interior Ministry says the investigators flew to the Turkish metropolis Wednesday.

Top German and Turkish officials already were scheduled to meet in Berlin next week to discuss Europe’s migrant crisis, in which Turkey – which borders both Syria and the European Union – is a key player. He said Germany stood resolutely by Turkey’s side in the fight against terrorism.

There was also a detain of the Russians in Antalya, the Mediterranean coastal city which is a popular tourist spot. The state-run Anadolu Agency said the suspects were allegedly in contact with IS fighters in conflict zones and had provided logistical support to the group.

In the major southern hub of Adana, 17 people were arrested, including three more Russians as well as Tajiks, Afghans and a Swedish citizen.

Turkey remains one of the main transit countries for jihadists going to Syria. Some IS fighters of Russian origin are believed to have left IS to settle in Turkey, families say.

The victims came from all over Germany: among them a married couple from Brandenburg; another couple from Mainz in Rhineland-Palatinate; a man from Bad Kreuznach, whose wife survived but is seriously injured. Authorities didn’t identify the victims but said they ranged in age from 51 to 73.

The number of Germans killed in the Istanbul suicide bombing has risen to 10. Amongst our group I noticed someone who appeared to be Turkish looking in our German group.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said there was no sign Germans were specifically targeted.
