Vehicle hits demonstrator, witnesses shoot at driver

Police later said the crash was not intentional and the driver, who has been questioned by police, did not see the protester.

Police in Ferguson, Missouri are investigating an incident on Tuesday night that caused an abrupt end to a protest marking the second anniversary of the death of Michael Brown.

Witnesses told a reporter from AP that the vehicle made its way to a group of demonstrators and struck the young man so hard that the poor person that he was flung into the air.

Shots can be heard on the video less than a minute after the collision. They slowly help the man to his feet when gunshots begin firing and the crowd scatters screaming.

Police found several bullet casings and protesters were told to clear the area.

After the shots rang out, most of the protesters left the area, she said, adding that she doesn’t think the gunfire and the auto accident were linked because of how much time went by between the two incidents.

No one inside the vehicle was injured.

Brown was shot and killed by a Ferguson police officer on August 9, 2014.

Mr Brown’s death triggered months of sometimes violent protests in Ferguson and across the United States and was the catalyst for the Black Lives Matter movement.

He says the extent of the protester’s injuries isn’t known because he was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.

They called the actors off stage but resumed after the protesters left. Small did not comment on the reason why the alleged shots may have been fired. The shooting sparked months of often violent protests and brought the topics of excessive force and police racism into the national conversation.

During Michael Brown death anniversary, the slain teen’s father made a speech during the memorial service.

It was also was a catalyst for the Black Lives Matter movement, which rebukes police treatment of minorities. The federal agency and the city agreed this year to make sweeping changes.

He said: “My son built families up, opened the eyes of the world and let them know this ain’t right”. A police spokesman acknowledged there were arrests but declined to say how many. “This color is not a disease”.
