Venus Williams admits she didn’t realise Serena had won – but did Beyonce?
“She missed once and because so many things were on the line – like the calendar Slam, the 22nd, the fact that it was in NY, I mean all those things together – this hurt her much too much”, Mouratoglou said. I dont talk about that anymore.. Williams and Graf are tied for second with seven Wimbledon championships.

The pair, reunited at the start of the season in Rome after a two year break, were titling for their 14 Grand Slam bauble. “It is an honor to play here on this court and I would like to say thank you to my box you are wonderful, I have the best team and sometimes I am not so easy but you always believe in me”.
Serena Williams’ memory is not as powerful as her first serve these days, although with so many achievements to recall it would be churlish to hold that against the American great.
Serena Williams and Venus Williams celebrate after winning their Wimbledon womens doubles final against Hungarys Timea Babos and Kazakhstans Yaroslava Shvedova at the All England Club in London on Saturday.
But Williams’ defeat by the German in Melbourne and then by Garbine Muguruza in last month’s French Open final had hardened her resolve, and the world No. 1 was not to be denied.
All she knows of the imposing Albury-bred champion who so successfully straddled the amateur and Open eras to win an astonishing 64 majors, including doubles and mixed, from 1960-1973 in what was a very different tennis time, is, well, just “basic facts”.
But even the ferociously competitive Williams seems happy to rest on her laurels, for a while at least. “I don’t even know where eight, nine and 10 was – or when”, Williams said.
A victory there will put her just one Grand Slam win away from tying the all-time Championship mark of 24 set by Australian Margaret Court. Her victory at Wimbledon a year ago raised her Grand Slam count to 21, but while she nearly had added to that total since, she was not able to.
The two women played against each other in the Australia Open in January, with Kerber taking that win. Honestly, I havent really had time to think about it or see it. Im still living in those emotions right now, so Im not quite sure.. At one point I really, really took a deep breath.
“Today just her serve was much better”, Kerber said.
“I learned not to get involved in those debates and conversations, ” she said. Gets really blurry after that.

Former Destiny’s Child superstar Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay Z swapped centre stage for Centre Court to support Serena on her day of destiny. She broke in the next game and then served out flawlessly to love, clinching her place in history with a forehand volley into the open space, before falling flat on her back in celebration.
