Verify: Bernie Sanders’ primetime Democrat National Convention speech
This is what a mensch looks like.

“He’s like a Moses”, she said.
Some had come in support of Jill Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate, who appeared among protesters and whose campaign platform is very similar to Sanders’.
And having gotten so close-heartbreakingly close.
Not without some turbulence, to be sure.
Still reeling from the revelations of an email leak, supporters of Sen.
Speaking of the bullying to which her family has been subjected, Obama said, “Our motto is: when they go low, we go high” – a quote already making the rounds on social media as a meme.
So when Wellington Webb, the former mayor of Denver, stepped up to the podium to declare, “I’m with her”, he got a rough ride-and it looked like we were in for a bumpy night.
Dr. Cynthia Hale, the reverend who opened the DNC with a prayer, was interrupted numerous times by supporters chanting “Bernie”. Diane Russell, the ME state representative with impeccable Bernie bona fides-it was she who introduced the amendment to reduce the role of superdelegates-struggled to calm the crowd, finally calling Albus Dumbledore in aid: “It takes great courage to stand up to your enemies. It takes even greater courage to stand up to your friends”.
Sanders, who closed the evening’s program, had to delay starting his speech because of extended applause when he took the stage.
But by the end of the night, Sanders, liberal favorite U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren and first lady Michelle Obama offered stirring endorsements of Clinton as the party tried to push through the discord and find common ground. The mood changed as if a switch had been flipped as Simon sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water” to a thrilled crowd.
The crowds replied: “Bernie!”
However, Sanders implied that Trump wants people to be paid less, but Trump has said the opposite.
Silverman finally said: “I will vote for Hillary with gusto, as I continue to be inspired and moved to action by the ideals set forth by Bernie”.
“And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all of our sons and daughters can take for granted that a woman can be president, can be president of the United States”. Or check your privilege. Like numerous speakers, she gave a shout-out to LGBT Americans – in her case it was praising the people who donated blood in the wake of the mass shooting at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, “because it could have been their son, their daughter in that club”.
Later, on the convention floor, there were some boos, ostensibly from Sanders supporters, at mentions of Clinton. Leslie Lee is no “Bernie Bro”-he’s the African-American Sanders activist who coined the hashtag #BernieMadeMeWhite”. He told me he came to Philly “to see the Bernie revolution firsthand and share the stories of the people who are a part of it….” And he also contrasted the kind of vision Donald Trump has for the country to the one Clinton has for the country. The New York businessman pulled ahead in at least one opinion poll on Monday, after lagging Clinton in most national surveys for months. That brought cheers, but the chants of “Bernie” never subsided.
Among a roster of speakers that included A-list celebrities, the widow of a veteran who said she was defrauded by Trump University and an impassioned Sen. But not even Mario Cuomo outshone Obama. Several yelled “no” when the First Lady declared “I’m with her”, a slogan for Clinton backers, but the response was far more muted than the backlash that greeted other speakers.
The outgoing First Lady reminisced about her two “bubbly little girls” Sasha and Malia as they entered the White House, and how they are leaving it as “poised young women”.
During a night marked by acrimony, Obama was not immune from boos. Warren was lethal on Trump, but otherwise pedestrian; those who think she’d have won the nomination in a walk got no help tonight.
“We need leadership which brings our people together and makes us stronger, not leadership that insults Latinos, Mexicans, Muslims, and women”, Sanders said, jabbing his right hand into the air for effect in the stilted rhythm of his shouted words.
