Well, folks who don’t regularly follow Verizon or Sony news may have thought that it was a quiet launch that came and went.

That was a bit awkward at that time, since various Sony officials had previously stated that their company was not yet ready to include Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) displays into its phones.
The Xperia Z4v didn’t make sense from the start.
Sony along with Verizon, its partner network carrier that was supposed to launch the Xperia Z4v in the US, made the announcement on Monday.
“Verizon will no longer be launching Xperia Z4v, however we are committed to supporting Sony Mobile’s product portfolio and will support existing products”, the mobile carrier said in its statement.
Verizon also says that it considers Sony as a “strategic partner”, and that both companies will continue to have discussions together as part of their future portfolio. The Xperia Z4v was supposed to be a hero device for Sony in the United States, a market in which it hasn’t been very successful lately.
As speculated by PC Mag, the reason behind the cancellation of the device may have something to do with the stalled plans of Verizon and Sony.
The electronics company’s PlayStation 4 console has been received pretty well in the USA, but its smartphones really don’t have a solid footing in the US market.
I’d call the news unfortunate, but the Xperia Z5 has now been announced (full specs) and so this phone probably needed to be cancelled sooner.
According to The Verge, Sony Mobile will remain dedicated to the smartphone market in the USA despite the cancellation.

The only question now is – how close to the Xperia Z5’s launch can Verizon get with the Xperia Z5v?
