Verizon’s go90 video streaming service officially launches on Android and iOS

The app for this new mobile video service is now out for both iOS and Android.

As previously written when the beta released, using the service is pretty simplistic if you are a big fan of taking in excess amounts of media.

Go90’s architect Brian Angiolet said that Verizon’s programmers and engineers have worked hard to create a unique video experience.

The app is available for download now.

The app is called go90 because we nearly always automatically rotate our phones 90 degrees when watching videos (even though a lot of people still insist on taking videos vertically).

Go90, which refers to the act of rotating a mobile device to watch video in landscape mode, is Verizon’s play at capturing the attention of millennials.

In terms of content, go90 offers content from The Daily Show, Food Network, IGN, DreamworksTV, Nerdist, Vice, Elite Daily, AwesomenessTV.

According to Verizon, Go90 will include “live events, prime-time TV, best-of-the-web and original series across comedy, music, gaming, lifestyle, sports, news and entertainment” thanks to deals with ESPN, Scripps Networks, CBS Sports, DreamWorks, Vice Media, Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, ID and the Science Channel, among others.

The Go90 app is free and hence will be ad-supported.

The most important features of the Go90 are the possibility to follow favorite shows and celebrities, cut and share those memorable moments, stream your own content and create or join a “crew”. Go90 has its focus only on mobile users than its competitors like Sling TV and Dish that focus more on online customers.

Verizon is gambling on the horizontal viewing when most of the leading video streaming services like YouTube, Periscope from twitter, Snapchat and Facebook are giving users the option of watching videos horizontally.
