Verizon Says BlackBerry’s Priv Android Slider Is ‘Coming Soon’
Although this is rather vague, at least BlackBerry Priv owners won’t have to worry about being left behind when it comes to major software updates. According to the report, both made slight increases over the previous year’s figures, while Firefox and Microsoft joined BlackBerry in noting small decreases in an ever-competitive market. T-Mobile has a few good news for these people. The rumor is based on several online posts including one Crackberry source from Instagram.

BlackBerry has been conservative with the release of the phone, producing only GSM models for the phone and initially excluding CDMA models.
“You can finally have everything you loved about BlackBerry with the capabilities of Android OS”, said Jeff Bradley, Senior Vice President of AT&T Mobility’s Device Marketing and Developer Services on About AT&T. Clearly, BlackBerry has to offer something innovative to get back the market share. GSM networks require a SIM card, great for worldwide travelers.
It’s an understandable move for the Canadian smartphone maker, which has been known for both its friendliness toward business users and its commitment to security on its phones. There’ll be extended support for all those enterprise clients BlackBerry already has, but the future for this company looks like it’s going to be Android or bust. Specs include an 18MP dual flash Schneider-Kreuznach camera.
“The Priv is not available at T-Mobile at this time, however we do partner closely with all OEM’s, including BlackBerry, to continually evaluate and adjust our portfolio”, the executive said. A slider smartphone with a keyboard is likely to open up a floodgate of new products.

Having OEMs lined up to provide security updates is something that’s important for Google as it tries to push Android into more and more security-conscious business environments. It is something that will rely on a 3,410 mAh battery that will keep the phone juiced up for about 22.5 hours.
