Verizon Unboxes the Brand New Samsung Galaxy Note 7

The Galaxy Note 7 will go on sale starting August 19, using Qualcomm Inc.’s Snapdragon processor in the U.S. It will be accompanied by an update of its Gear VR virtual-reality headset, that works in conjunction with the smartphone.

In terms of design, the new Galaxy Note is significantly improved. The iris scanner is simply activated when you pick up your phone and look towards it, so you won’t be struggling to stare into the right place. You can also write and save notes on the screen while it’s locked. This freebie is nothing other than Galaxy fit 2. The iPhone 7 Plus has a little work to do to catch up with the Samsung offerings, as the iPhone 6S Plus, released past year, features a full HD display which delivers 401 ppi pixel density. Users can also login into a TabPro S by pattern authentication-by drawing specific shapes-on a Note 7.

As expected the Galaxy Note 7 will ship with proprietary Exynos technology in some territories, while the Western marketplace will benefit from a Snapdragon variant. The slimming effect is due to a curved screen, borrowed from the S7 Edge, that eliminates the side bezels. For instance, the base memory has been bumped to 64GB with the addition of a microSD card slot that can support up to 256GB of storage. I’ve tested it against many, and it beats the iPhone’s by a mile. The phone will also boast of a 4 GB RAM and 12 megapixel rear camera.

The 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 7 is just a touch larger than the similar-looking Galaxy S7 Edge, though like its predecessors, the Galaxy Note 7 retains a stylus that adds note-taking functionality.

Pre-order before August 30 and you’ll get the Note 7 three days early on August 31, while select British retailers will be offering a free Galaxy Gear VR headset to sweeten the deal.

To offer the feel of handwriting with a real pen, the diameter of the pen tip has been reduced to 0.7 mm, compared with the 1.6 mm of the previous version of the Galaxy Note.

Samsung introduced its large-screen Note series in 2011 and people were skeptical of its relatively large size at the time, David Lowes, the company’s chief marketing officer in Europe, said in an interview. This is all powered by a 3500mAh battery which is non-removable.
