The death certificate of 28-year-old Kyle D. Young was released Monday by the Vermont Health Department.

Young’s manner of death is listed on the death certificate as an accident.

The medical examiner determined Young died from strenuous physical activity during high temperatures.

He collapsed about 2 p.m. Thursday while auditioning for the state police tactical team at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The high temperature Thursday in Burlington was 86 degrees, setting a new record for the date, according to the National Weather Service.

Vermont Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn said in a statement that he ordered a review of the application and training processes for all State Police special-purpose teams.

Additionally, state police are alerting motorists of a traffic advisory in Brownville from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. today. “Our thoughts continue to be with Trooper Young and his family”. He was an Afghanistan-Iraqi War veteran who joined the Vermont State Police in 2014. He is survived by his children, a partner, parents and other family members.
