Vernon Davis: “I didn’t call Kap out”
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has dismissed reports suggesting that there are problems between him and other players on the roster.

Davis also contradicted reports he and left tackle Joe Staley got into an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.
“I don’t where you got that from at all”, Davis said Thursday.
Me, Kap, Joe are all on the same page. It’s not my job or my role to call Kap out. I’ll let the coaches do that. I think people are just trying to find something that’s causing turmoil within this team, but the rumors don’t need to be spread, they’re not true. We’re captains. We’re leaders of the team, so we have to stay together in order to make things happen, and we rely on each other. Davis, Staley and Kaepernick cleared the air within the next couple of days, sources told CSNBayArea.com. Comcast SportsNet Bay Area seconded that report.
“(Staley) is like a brother to me”, Davis said. “I don’t know where that’s coming from”. That s amusing to me.
“He’s like a brother to me”, Davis said. We ve argued in the past. “It’s going to be done properly…I think it was done the right way”. I’ve never been mad at Joe. “My relationship with my teammates is great”. He’s a great teammate. He’s a great person. I love being around him. I love his energy.
Locker-room chemistry has been a hot topic this week as the last-place 49ers (2-5) prepare for Sunday’s game at the St. Louis Rams (3-3).
The first squabble, according to the report, was a result of Staley questioning the severity of a knee injury that caused Davis to sit out two games – losses to the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants.
Later, Kaepernick, with his tongue planted firmly in his cheek, asked Gabbert, whose locker is next to his, loud enough for anyone nearby to hear, “Hey, do you want to go eat lunch together?” “We just talked. We did what teams normally do, meet, especially at a critical time like this when we’re not winning”.

Receiver Quinton Patton was the first to defend Kaepernick during the meeting. It’s not going to be done in a way where someone might get upset and then he’s ready to fight.
