Donald Trump accepted a Purple Heart from a veteran at a Virginia campaign event on Tuesday and proclaimed, “I always wanted to get the Purple Heart”.

He said that when he asked the man if it was a real award or a copy, the man confirmed it was his real Purple Heart medal.

Trump shd have handed that Purple Heart back to the veteran, thanked him full heartedly for his service & said “I do not deserve this”. “This was much easier”, Trump said.

Purple Hearts are awarded to service members who suffer wounds in combat.

Dorfman was injured in November 2007 while serving in the Iraq War, according to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor.

You know something very nice just happened to me.

Social media lit up after Trump’s revelation.

NBC News correspondent Katy Tur tweeted that the veteran told her before the rally that the Purple Heart was actually a duplicate, The Hill reported.

“All hell broke loose, airplanes coming and bombing us, and I was up on the front lines”, he told CBS 2’s Charlie De Mar.

So … is anyone going to tell Trump the truth, and does it matter?

Trump belittled the parents of Khan, whose father addressed the Democratic National Convention last Thursday night after he denounced the business mogul as unpatriotic and selfish over his divisive rhetoric against immigrants and Muslims.

Trump fired back on Twitter, saying he had made lots of sacrifices and also made fun of Mrs. Khan because she didn’t speak at the DNC. “If he were a reality TV show at this point he would have been cancelled”, she said. “So numerous greatest people I know have served”. “I think he should have said, “This is reserved for combat-wounded veterans only”.

“You had the time, you did not serve”. Dorfman went on to say that Trump would make a good Commander-in-Chief, and that he has no regrets about giving Trump his medal. “I was entered into the lottery, the draft lottery”, he said.
