Veteran gave me the Purple Heart I “always wanted”
Mr Khan took personal offence to the NY businessman’s quip that receiving the medal as a gift was much easier than being wounded in combat.

Trump said he wants to “find out how many of them I know”, referring to Clinton’s top donors.
Donald Trump has received a Purple Heart, but he did it in a “much easier” way than military servicemembers who are given the medal.
“I wanted him to have that medal in his hand to remember all the people who have fought and died for this country”, Dorfman said. Trump didn’t. Instead, he riffed about a Purple Heart he received from a supporter during a rally in Ashburn, Virginia.
“You dodged the draft”, Khan, a Muslim whose son was slain in the Iraq War, said of Trump to CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Trump said the man said, “That’s my real Purple Heart, I have such confidence in you”. “This was much easier, ‘” Barney wrote in a post on Facebook.
And in an extraordinarily provocative interview with The Washington Post, Mr Trump declined to endorse for re-election several Republicans who had criticised him, including House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Senator John McCain of Arizona, who both face primaries this month. The same critics also pointed to Trump’s draft deferments during the Vietnam War. During his scathing critique of the GOP candidate, Khan responded to Donald Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric and his proposed Muslim ban by talking about how his son sacrificed his life to save those of his fellow soldiers. “You should have pinned it back”.
She said she was shocked he took it in the first place and couldn’t believe his comments after.
He was held captive for five months and was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. “We need you to help take back our government”.
“That’s, like, big stuff”, Trump continued.
The Purple Heart is awarded exclusively to service members injured in combat.
Trump invited Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman onstage at Briar Woods High School in Ashburn, Va., to kick off his campaign rally at a time of negative publicity surrounding his public feud with a Gold Star family.
