Veteran RB Johnson will visit Cardinals

GLENDALE, Ariz. – For the last two weeks, Arizona Cardinals rookie running back David Johnson has been trying to find the right balance between returning to the field and making sure his hamstring injury doesn’t linger.

David Johnson has been out with a hamstring injury since the second day of training camp but was to practice on a limited basis Monday.

He managed 663 yards on 155 rushing attempts for the Jets, but scored only one touchdown.

– As for the first units on both sides of the ball, “I don’t think you could have scripted a better start”, Keim said. With Chris Johnson’s availability and his track record, it doesn’t hurt to explore this opportunity.

Chris Johnson as reported has officially signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals originally covered by NBC Sports and Endzone Score’s Shawn Ferris. Viewed as the undisputed starter by most after signing in New York, Johnson instead became the lesser half of a timeshare with Chris Ivory. Not even the late Junior Seau, a newly inducted Hall of Famer, or LaDainian Tomlinson, who’s probably Canton-bound, got to finish their careers as Chargers. He also has been a prolific receiver out of the backfield, topping 40 catches in a season five times although that dropped to a career-low 24 last season.

Johnson isn’t going to rush for 2,000 yards like he did so many years ago in Tennessee, but that’s OK.

Ever wanted to see what a raw gunshot wound looks like? “I thought Stepfan (Taylor) ran hard, Robert Hughes ran hard”.

To make room on the roster, the Cardinals waived injured safety Brandon Person, who tore his ACL in Saturday’s game. Arians said the first team will play the entire first quarter Saturday night against San Diego.
