Veterans Day ceremonies planned for Friday
Veteran’s Day is observed annually on November 11 to honor and recognize military veterans.

Remarks will be given by Legion Commander Stan Britt.
At 3 p.m. Saturday, American Legion volunteers will remove flags from graves in the Lake Placid community, starting at St. Agnes Cemetery.
Youngstown: American Legion Post #504, 2225 Glenwood Ave., with the Women’s Auxiliary & Sons of the American Legion Veterans Day program at 5 p.m.
A Veterans Day program, “Remembering Our Veterans”, begins at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the high school.
9 a.m., Woodland Elementary School, including a welcome by Jennifer Clemens, principal, the Pledge of Allegiance, a presentation of poems, and music for the occasion.
Following the songs military personnel and families are invited to a brunch inside Building A. Veterans, family, neighbors are all welcome.
American Legion Post 25 is organizing the event. The wreath laying events will be accompanied by a ceremonial firing squad and prayer.
A flag changing ceremony was held at Edgewood Rehabilitation Living Center on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Units will form up beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The parade will form at 10 a.m.in front of VFW Lorraine Post 29 at 64 Kenoza Ave.
A free veterans appreciation concert will be held from 8 p.m.to midnight at the post featuring country band “Two Left Boots”.

2016 Veterans Day Ceremony, 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, Veterans Memorial Plaza, S. Washington Street and E. Main Street. There will also be a musical selection. There will be a video presentation and patriotic sing-along for military members followed by a reception. The event is hosted by The Spirit of Patriotism. Van Dalsen was asked to help the school educate students on the true meaning of Veterans Day.
