VHP veteran leader Ashok Singhal takes last breath
“Singhal died at 2.24 PM at Medanta Medicity hospital in Gurgaon”, Togadia said. He was a Hindutva Titan and the founder of our Hindu Renaissance movement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi described his death as “a deep personal loss”.
“Ashok Singhalji dedicated his entire life in service to the nation and his five decades in social life made him an institution in himself”, he added. Mr Modi said, Ashok Singhal is an inspiration for generations.
He said he was always fortunate to receive Ashokji’s blessings and guidance. My condolences to his family & countless supporters.
Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik also condoled the death. No wonder, former VHP president Vishnu Hari Dalmia demanded that Modi should gift a grand Ram temple at Ayodhya to Singhal on his 90th birthday on September 15, 2016.
In February 2014, Ashok Singhal had remarked that Hindus must bear five children in order to revive community’s declining population in the country. Unlike many BJP leaders who distanced themselves from that event, Singhal was proud of it – and vowed to keep working till India ceased to be a secular republic and became a “Hindu Rashtra”. He was suffering from respiratory problems for over a month. Despite his age and poor health, Singhal managed to impress with his powerful voice.
“As far as I can recall, he was the RSS Pracharak of the Delhi division”.
In the year 1980, Ashok Singhal became the joint general secretary of VHP. In 1984, he became the general secretary of VHP and later, the President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Singhal was instrumental in the “kar sewak” campaign that led to the bringing down of the 16th century Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992. Singhal was also grooming the relatively non-descript Champat Rai and Dinesh Chandra for larger role in the organisation.

Singhal’s body will kept at RSS headquarter in Delhi and will be cremated on Wednesday here.
