Job markets in recent months have been strong, with the USA economy adding more than a quarter million jobs in July. Professional and business services industries added 300 jobs and government jobs increased by 200.
The agency says the food service and dining industries added jobs, as did education and health services.
The state’s jobless rate had stood at 3 percent since January.
In Sacramento, unemployment jumped 0.2 of a point, to 5.8 percent.
County unemployment figures will be released Tuesday. When adjusted for this and other seasonal factors, the job drop was only about 8,000.
