“At approximately 7:20 pm, Carowinds security officers reported a shooting in the bus parking lot outside of the park”, the statement read.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. near the park on the 14500 block of Carowinds Boulevard.
Carowinds officials said in a statement that the victim was a juvenile male.
Trent Faris with the York County Sheriff’s Office says investigators don’t think it the shooting was a random act of violence. The juvenile was taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where his condition was unknown. That person’s name has not been released. Authorities would not go into further detail.
The investigation is being handled by CMPD and York County Sheriff’s Office.
“We’re working right now to locate any type of information”, he said, adding that the suspect was driving a blue vehicle, possibly a Dodge Charger or Magnum.
