Mohammad burst into a second-floor classroom and used an 8- to 10-inch knife to stab two people around the start of an 8 a.m. class, Warnke said. He was shot by university police on a bridge about 40 yards away from the building where the first stabbing took place, according to the Sun-Star.

Detectives said Mohammed was mad after being kicked out of a student group meeting. “It’s like a dinner where your eyes are bigger than your stomach”. “That was his bad luck”.
A 40-year-old San Bernardino police officer was killed early Thursday morning after his vehicle was broadsided by a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old motorist in a possible DUI-related crash.
‘There is no reason to think this isn’t anything but a kid upset with other students, ‘ added Warnke.
The attack is being investigated by the UC Merced Police Department and other agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the sheriff’s office. He said they did a thorough background check of the suspect and his family, including social media and computer records.
“There is nothing to indicate that there is any political or religious motivation pertaining to what he did yesterday”, Warnke said.
“And over time we are going to need to build that confidence back up in our students”, Leland said. It also contained two plastic baggies of petroleum jelly, which Warnke called a “poor’s man” explosive if ignited. “We don’t know what he was going to do with it. We don’t know what his intentions were”. Tuolumne Hall, one of the campus’s residence halls, was later evacuated as the crime scene was expanded during the investigation.
He said: ‘He didn’t talk much.
A construction worker who ran into a California university classroom to break up what he thought was a fight is being hailed as a hero for preventing a student armed with a hunting knife from possibly killing his intended target.
A high school buddy in Santa Clara, California expressed shock that Mohammad stabbed four people.
The 18-year-old freshman who stabbed four people at University of California, Merced, was apparently motivated by a personal vendetta and not any terrorist or political agenda, authorities said Thursday.
Mohammad’s actions drew praise on Thursday from a Twitter account associated with ISIS, which just last week released a series of videos calling for lone wolf stabbing attacks, Fox News reported.
“It kind of hit me that this all could have ended badly”, he said.
Warnke said Mohammad wrote about his plan to handcuff students and ambush a responding officer to get his gun. A district official said counselors were at the high school.
UC Merced, which opened September 5, 2005, is the newest campus in the University of California system and is situated near Yosemite National Park.
Police canceled classes on Thursday so they could continue their investigation.
One of the student victims and the construction worker were treated and released from local hospitals, while the other two are still receiving treatment.
