A school police officer has been filmed repeatedly slapping and kicking out at a young man.

The school system told WJZ it wasn’t even aware of the video until the station asked about it. The system swiftly announced the three suspensions, but didn’t identify either officer seen in the video, the man who was beaten or the student who filmed the video.
It is unclear what may have led to the altercation between the officer and the student.
The incident happened at a high school in Baltimore and involves a police officer, according to CNN affiliate WJZ.
She said that school officials received a copy of the video and found out about what happened late Tuesday afternoon. “I’m a parent…. No matter what the circumstances are, I am totally appalled”.
The district official said the incident took place some time Tuesday morning at The REACH Partnership School, which is located in the old Lake Clifton school complex.
Sgt. Clyde Boatwright, president of the school police union, told the Sun, “We are waiting for the department to conduct a full and complete investigation”.
Reach Partnerships is one of seven school facilities in Baltimore with dedicated SROs on the premises. Boatwright added that the officer is still employed.
Over the past year, the practice of placing armed police officers inside of schools has come under increased scrutiny.
In Baltimore, where the school police force is separate from the municipal police force, there has been a long-standing debate about whether to allow school police officers to carry guns.
