And they don’t come any more critical – or destructive – than children.

The first film shows the Discovery 5 in a variety of extreme environments around the world, in order to show how rigorous the testing programme for the new vehicle was and to reinforce the model’s reputation for robustness and all-terrain credentials.

They even let the rascals loose with pens and paints to daub and scrawl their own designs, cartoons and signatures over the bodywork.

We may already know what it’s front end looks like but Land Rover has just dropped a series of new teaser images and videos of the all-new 2017 Discovery.

It’s the first video that is of more interest to us because the video demonstrates the 2017 Land Rover Discovery off-roading ability, as we get to see the next generation model tackling all the things that off roading throws at you, such as wading in deep water, uneven inclines, and also steep descents down sand dunes.

They were able to clamber around the seats, slam doors, press buttons, twist knobs and generally push the vehicle to its limits to ensure the seven-seater is fit for family use.

The second of the two Disco videos focuses on the family friendly nature (seven seats in a big protective box) and ropes in the children of the Discovery’s engineers and designers to create the final camouflage for the Disco before its reveal at the Paris Motor Show.

“There is no better insight into the needs of the modern family than the first-hand experience we glean at home”, he added.

The vehicle has undergone some 28 months of trials in 20 countries across the globe, including endurance tests across the deserts of Dubai in temperatures of plus 40 degrees Celsius and in sub-zero conditions in the north of Sweden.
