Just how serious is YouTube about having video series you can’t find anywhere else?

Daniels’ appointment to the YouTube originals post will fuel the already popular comparisons between YouTube and MTV during its heyday.
Daniels leaves MTV after nearly three years at the youth broadcaster, where she has worked to oversee scripted and reality series, news and documentaries, production and talent.
Alex Carloss, who has led YouTube’s original programming efforts, will continue, with his team now reporting into Daniels. The Los Angeles Times reports that Susanne Daniels is leaving the network to take on a key position with YouTube.
“Susanne is an executive whose incredible instincts have led her to consistently generate pop culture hits that audiences relate to and root for”, said Kyncl in announcing the hire. He also noted her “deep expertise in programming”, and said it will be invaluable to YouTube and its top creators in a move to foster “more ambitious projects”. Wednesday’s announcement marks the first time that a high-profile executive at a traditional TV network has joined YouTube.
