Video shows possible hit-and-run between Will Smith, Cardell Hayes before shooting
New Orleans Police say they plan to add a new charge against the man accused of killing former Saints player Will Smith.

At one point, Smith’s Mercedes appears to bump into the Hummer from behind, although it is not 100 percent clear this happens. Fuller has also said Hayes “was not the aggressor” during the incident that left Smith dead.
A surveillance video released Monday is providing a little more information about happened prior to the shooting death of former New Orleans Saints defensive back Will Smith on Saturday night. “The person that hit him sped off. My client followed behind that person in an effort to get their license plate and my client called 911, which will be verified in the upcoming weeks”.
On Sunday, he said: “not only did my client call 911, but my client secured a witness who was about to leave the scene and my client waited for law enforcement to arrive”.
Additionally, Fuller has argued there is “evidence” there may have been a second gun on the scene and that Hayes “felt threatened”.
Police earlier had said they confiscated a weapon at the scene believed to have been used to shoot Smith, but until Tuesday had not commented on whether Smith had his own weapon or whether any other weapons were found.
As Hayes attempts to pull off the road, the Mercedes SUV can be seen speeding away.
Smith and Hayes – who himself played defense in a semi-pro football league – then confronted each other.
Arizona Cardinals free safety Tyrann Mathieu is a former LSU star and native of New Orleans, and in the aftermath of the shooting death of former Saints player Will Smith, Mathieu has opened up on the condition of his home city. “I find myself leaning to the right on some issues”.
Hayes’ attorney, however, stressed that there is a difference between only one gun being confiscated and more than one gun being present. Saints head coach Sean Payton spoke at length to USA TODAY Sports’ Jarrett Bell about the rampant gun violence in the city. So far, police say that case doesn’t have anything to do with Saturday’s events.
According to police, Hayes shot Smith and wounded his wife in the leg after the men exchanged words following a collision in which Hayes’s Hummer H2 rear-ended Smith’s Mercedes-Benz SUV.
Police detained Hayes on Saturday night and booked him with second-degree murder on Sunday morning after questioning him. Surveillance video appears to show Smith’s vehicle hitting the orange Hummer after it stopped abruptly in the middle of a street.

“Mourning the loss of a great friend and teammate, Will Smith”, tweeted New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees, who like Smith was part of the post-Katrina squad that went on to win Super Bowl XLIV in 2010.
