VIEWER GUIDE: Clinton hopes voters give her fresh look
Speaking to a convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Clinton slammed many of his positions, vowing to stand by American allies, fight dictators and listen to the advice of military officials.

Gathering for their convention in Philadelphia, Democrats struggled to shake lingering bitterness among supporters of defeated rival Bernie Sanders and dealt with the aftermath of a leadership shakeup at the top.
Clinton explained that there has been a “concerted effort” by Republicans to portray her in a negative light, and described the double standard she believes is set for her as “unfounded, inaccurate, mean-spirited attacks with no basis in truth, reality, which take on a life of their own”.
Ahead of her speech, she secured endorsement of retired Gen. John Allen, former deputy commander of U. S. Central Command and a former commander of the International Security Assistance Force, overseeing North Atlantic Treaty Organisation troops in Afghanistan. “That will be an important thing”, he said.
‘People are very willing to say things about me, to make accusations about me that are, I don’t get upset about them anymore, but they are regrettable, ‘ she said.

Republicans relished Democrats’ pre-convention tumult, just days after they bumped and bumbled through their convention, unsuccessfully trying to paper over their own division. But she also said Clinton should address the trust issues head-on.
The polls were conducted after Trump was officially named the Republican nominee for president at the party’s convention in Cleveland last week. Amid the growing controversy, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced on Sunday afternoon that she would step down from her post at the end of the convention.
Trump apparently watched Clinton and Kaine on the episode and responded on Twitter, of course. They do, however, think they can make voters dislike her a little less by offering testimonials from people she’s had a positive impact on, while making her more relatable.
But, Clinton added, she put herself through it all because of her faith in the country. “Out of that has sprung some, if not much of, Hillary’s commitment to children and what they are owed and deserved”, said Verveer.
“You will never hear me say I only listen to myself on national security”, she said.
Their four-day affair began with drama on the convention floor, when anti-Trump delegates unsuccessfully sought to mount a last-ditch rebellion against Trump. Fifty percent said the event made them feel better about Trump, while 36 percent said it hurt their view of the billionaire. These include suburban college- and non-college-educated women.
But some voters say there is nothing Clinton could say to win them over.
The latest poll marks Trump’s best showing in a CNN/ORC poll since September 2015.
In addition to changing perceptions about Clinton, a goal of the convention is to create a portrait of party unity in contrast to the GOP convention, something that may be made more hard following the Wikileaks email release that some Sanders supporters say confirms the party was working against the Vermont senator.
“The stars of the Democratic Party are all on board”, said Patti Solis Doyle, a Clinton 2008 campaign manager.
Sanders will address the convention Monday night, and Obama will speak on Wednesday night.
In addition to the videos, there will be musical performances and entertainment aimed at creating a celebratory mood and drawing more eyeballs.
