“We were grieving as a city, crying openly in the streets”, a Facebook post by Circular Congregational Church in Charleston said Sunday afternoon.

Eddie Mitchell, 32, of Detroit, held a sign that read: “Hope will never be silent”. The shooting “could have been last night in downtown” Detroit, he said.
– Across the world, a show of support is flowing for Orlando.
“Santa Clarita has come together in the past for some of the most important events”, Andrew Taban told The Signal Sunday. “It will not stand”, said Beth Rosner-Kew of Buffalo.
With the mass shooting occurring during the charged atmosphere of a presidential election year, Bouchard urged against politicizing the tragedy and drawing conclusions while a criminal investigation remains underway.
“I’m here today simply because I’m part of the gay family”.
Under flags at half-staff, with a gay pride rainbow banner suspended from the entrance to City Hall, Mayor Martin J. Walsh will host a vigil for the victims of yesterday’s Pulse nightclub massacre tonight at 6 p.m.at Government Center Plaza.
Julia Music is the chair of Ferndale Pride. Mateen’s ex-wife said his family was from Afghanistan but that her ex-husband was born in NY.
The two women have been a couple for 36 years and were married in 2013.
Leaders of Michigan’s Muslim community have also condemned the Orlando attack. “One of the most powerful responses we can give is to join together and remember the victims”. Numerous people in attendance were members of the LGBTQ community, who say now is the time to come together and support one another.

Liz Hamor, coordinator with the Gay, Lesbian Straight Education Network of Greater Wichita and who helped organize the vigil, said, “We are here so things like this don’t happen in Wichita”.
