Vikings Adrian Peterson Carried Through Bar After Knee Injury

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is planning to have surgery Thursday morning to fix his torn meniscus, he told ESPN’s Josina Anderson on Wednesday.

But the Vikings have held off for now on placing the franchise’s all-time leading rusher on injured reserve.

Trae Waynes’ interception of Aaron Rodgers with less than two minutes remaining Sunday night sealed a 17-14 win over the Packers, another game-changing play from a defense feasting on them.

Peterson, 16th on the NFL’s all-time rushing list, has only 50 yards on 31 attempts this season.

Peterson told ESPN on Wednesday morning that the type of tear he was diagnosed with typically requires a minimum recovery time of three to four months. It has since been reported that Peterson suffered a torn meniscus and will be undergoing further evaluation.

Diggs’ prospects this season were seemingly hurt by a season-ending leg injury to quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Newton has seven touchdown passes in his last three regular season games.

Like Peterson, who recovered from a torn ACL in 2012 and led the league in rushing, no one will ever question Josh McCown’s toughness.

Sam Bradford started made his first start with the Vikings on Sunday night just 15 days after being acquired in a trade from the Eagles.

Bet against All Day at your own risk, but it is conceivable – considering the ramifications of his contract moving forward – that we’ve seen the last carry from Peterson a member of the Vikings.

The Vikings now will turn to Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

“I have a lot of confidence in those two guys”, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Monday. They got after us up front, I thought. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tore multiple knee ligaments on August 30, and the team started the season with two different quarterbacks after trading for Bradford on September 3.

Stat that jumps out: The Vikings allowed just 65 total yards of offense to the Packers in the first half. The initial word Sunday night was that Peterson had avoided a much more significant injury, and there was hope on Monday morning that damage to the 31-year-old’s knee was limited to cartilage, not ligaments. T.J. Clemmings will start in his place.

Unable to lift his left arm after the game, McCown said he planned to play next week at Miami.

“Really, our inefficiency on third down this past game in the first half got us a little behind, and we went to some more basic things there in the second half”.

“They’re resilient. They’re tough”.

As for the next game, the home opener against Detroit, McCarthy and Bennett said they’re not going to forget Lacy and Starks.

“We’re not going to overreact”, Rodgers said.

“Everything we do is for the team”.

“It’s real disappointing, but like I said earlier, we can’t go dwell on it at all and we have a long road ahead of us and we still have everything ahead of us. Try, like I’ve said before, to find a way”.

That’s a typical to start the season for Lacy, who in each of the past two years hasn’t had a game with 20 or more carries until mid-to-late November.

“That’s our identity and that’s how we’re built”.
