Vikings: Adrian Peterson Had a Successful Surgery on Torn Meniscus

Nothing will endear a quarterback to Minnesota fans faster than beating the Packers, which Bradford helped the Vikings do in his debut last Sunday.

Not only has left tackle Matt Kalil been placed on injured reserve, but Adrian Peterson suffered a torn meniscus in last Sunday night’s game that will reportedly keep him out for three to four months. He was operated by team physician Dr. Chris Larson, who performed Peterson’s procedure.

Zimmer said Jerick McKinnon will replace Peterson and T.J. Clemmings will step in for Kalil on Sunday at Carolina. It’s still possible Peterson returns this season as each National Football League team is allowed to reinstate one player from injured reserve after eight weeks. The Vikings also announced Wednesday they were placing left tackle Matt Kalil on the injured reserve list due to a hip injury.

Zimmer voiced some frustration with Floyd after the team’s practice Thursday.

“Everything is possible”, Zimmer said.

Judging by his style of play, Peterson may best join a club that has an established defensive line. We all know about our defense, the Broncos defense, the Patriots defense, etc., but the Vikings defense is nothing to overlook. “(Floyd’s) played (25) plays this year.

The Vikings denied that Peterson’s LCL is torn and Peterson texted ESPN’s Josina Anderson back saying, “no torn LCL”. Through two games, he leads the Chargers with 23 percent of the team’s targets, 30 percent if you exclude the contributions from Keenan Allen and Danny Woodhead.

“Two touchdowns, five catches, over 100 yards”. After the game, Peterson left the locker room in a brace and on crutches. He was a limited participant Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but he’s on track to be available against the Panthers.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs will be without starting offensive lineman Parker Ehinger and backup Jah Reid, and likely without star running back Jamaal Charles for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. He has clearly used his time on IR previous year to ideal his game, and his is actively using his speed to get ahead of defenders while leveraging his large frame to box out corners trying to stop him. The resurgent Melvin Gordon already has three rushing scores after not registering any in his rookie year and is a prime start this week with a larger role awaiting with Woodhead out.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer acknowledged on Wednesday that Peterson’s injury could be season-ending. “He’s played well. He’s getting better as a pass rusher and he’s played the run very well”. Dr. Derek Ochiai, of the Nirschl Orthopaedic Center in Arlington, Va., and Dr. Moira McCarthy of the Hospital for Special Surgery in NY, both said a “bucket handle tear” is more severe than a typical meniscus tear. “I still believe he’s got time and a lot of yards in him”.

The biggest fines this week were for $18,231 to Raiders punter Marquette King (horse-collar tackle), Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (hit to quarterback Carson Wentz’s head), and Packers DL Mike Daniels (roughing the passer, Sam Bradford).
