Vikings Beat Steelers 14-3

“What wins games is keeping the ball in front of you, no mental errors, no missed tackles”. Combined, Bridgewater, Heinicke and Kafka went 19-of-26 for 159 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The long return got the Vikings within inches of the goal line, where running back Joe Banyard ran right through the Steelers front seven on the following play. However, he shrugged when it was mentioned, saying, “I wish I were 5-0 in the regular season”. If Sunday’s game is any indication, he is beginning to grasp the many different roles the Steelers would like him to play.

These two teams met on a neutral site in the last time they played each other in 2013.

Peterson has not played since Week 1 of the 2014 season and he likely will not take the field Sunday night.

Coach Mike Tomlin sat out Bell, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, wide receivers Antonio Brown and Wheaton, tight end Heath Miller, center Maurkice Pouncey and guard Ramon Foster on offense.

The marquee names the Steelers and Vikings hope will carry them into a promising 2015 get the night off, along with Jerome Bettis and the rest of the Hall of Fame class enshrined on Saturday night.

It is expected that promising young quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will get some time on the field for the Vikings.

Jones was 16 of 32 passing for 135 yards. While coach Mike Tomlin said early in camp Jones was on the “incline” he was going to reserve judgment until after seeing Jones face guys in different-colored jerseys. Jones was hit just after releasing the ball and he did a good job standing in the pocket to deliver the pass. The Vikings also held the Steelers to just 68 yards rushing on 25 carries.

“I feel like I made a couple plays”, Archer said.

Pittsburgh scored first on a 36-yard field goal by veteran Shaun Suisham.

Reports are Adrian Peterson will be held out for this game and all of the preseason.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette remarks that it is only one preseason game, not really worth looking into the results of it all. Third-down-and-10 became third-down-and-15. We had delay of games and things of that nature in several instances.

However much they see of the Steelers’ starters on Sunday, Zimmer said the Vikings will benefit from facing someone else. Shockingly, Minnesota was able to keep the Steelers at bay.
