In his first season as head coach, Zimmer guided the Vikings to a 7-9 record despite the loss of Adrian Peterson due to legal reasons.

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater could be next in line for a contract and there are deals to consider for cornerback Xavier Rhodes and outside linebacker Anthony Barr sooner rather than later. He moved to the left side in the spring but was back on the right Friday.

Coach Mike Zimmer made it clear at the NFL Scouting Combine that he saw room for improvement at strong safety.

“Hey, man, he’s our coach”, Munnerlyn said. Did I ever think I’d get cut?

Ellis’ injury remains undisclosed. Ellison is still recovering from knee surgery in January. “Everything is on the right track”.

Before last season, Sullivan had started every game since 2011, with Joe Berger taking over at center. Peterson and Greenway, who was drafted in 2006 but sat out his rookie year with a knee injury, both played in the National Football League for the first time in 2007 and have become close friends.

Paul Carlson- Vikings Fan: “I’ve been coming here so long, it’s becoming our summer ritual to come down”. “That’s my expectation is that I’m going to be the starter, but I’m not the one that makes that decision”. Whether Taylor was practicing or not, I was going to do everything I could to show that I belong here, so my mindset hasn’t changed.

The Vikings’ contract in Mankato runs through the 2018 season with the new facility expected to be finished that same year.

“It’s just unfortunate that something like that happened (to Heinicke)”.

“We cant just go by the expectations”. That likely has played a role in the Vikings’ decision not to bring in another quarterback just yet. Zimmer said he will play both. They are incredibly wise to lock him in for the foreseeable future right now. You see this as a good football team. “He’s a good athlete, (and he’s) got good size”.

Vikings kicker Blair Walsh isn’t avoiding the subject of his missed field goal back in January.

“I’m glad he’s my guy”, Zimmer said, adding: “He does the things we’re asking him to do to continue to win, and I do believe that you’re going to continue to see another jump for him”. Veteran reserve Joe Berger was not just a placeholder a year ago; he was rated the top center in the league by Pro Football Focus.

Treadwell stayed long after practice on Friday, catching passes from a machine and signing hundreds of autographs until he was the last one to leave the field. “I would say that’s how it’s different”.

Asked if he really feels there’s a chance he could fail to make the roster, Griffin said: “It’s no giant lock”. “I love the game for what it is and probably the only thing that I would be coaching is my kids’ sports”.
