Vikings kicker meets supportive, letter-writing1st-graders
There’s a nice side note to this story: a class of first graders at Northpoint Elementary School in Blaine, MN, wrote Walsh notes to cheer him up.

The Vikings kicker pays a visit the Minnesota elementary school whose youngsters showed remarkable kindness after a heartbreaking loss. He signed autographs, putting his signature on trading cards, footballs and even a pair of headphones. “They were really, really cool, and I didn’t think you guys were going to do that for me”, Walsh said, all smiles.
The holder gets the snap, and Walsh sees laces in front of him-technically and psychologically, it’s an “uh-oh” moment for the holder and his kicker. “These kids, they don’t know anything about me; they just know I’m a Vikings player”.
“I just wanted to come by… and say thank you very much for all the letters you wrote and the cards”, Blair said while addressing the class. “They’re very, very touching to me”. Several students reminded Walsh that everyone makes mistakes, with some of them citing examples of times they were in similar situations (messing up a cartwheel, not connecting on a game-winning shot or kick). Unlike Walsh, the kids hit their homework out of the park.
Her students made cards for Walsh, each one containing words of encouragement only a 1st grader could imagine.
Walsh high-fives a young fan.

On Thursday, the sports video game company posted a dig at Blair Walsh on its Instagram account.
