Vikings lose Bridgewater, beat Rams 21-18 in OT

Zuerlein had a career-long 61-yarder among three field goals in the second quarter, the first from 60-plus yards in the National Football League in almost two years.

St. Louis Rams quarterback Nick Foles (5) is pressured by Minnesota Vikings defensive end Brian Robison (96) during the first half of an NFL football game, Sunday, November 8, 2015, in Minneapolis. Joyner said the hit wasn’t intentional and that he and Bridgewater are friends.

Then they let the St. Louis Rams have it. “But the same coaches (Fisher) was in meetings with and stuff like that will come out and say, ‘Hey, Rodney, you’re a heckuva a player and we would love to have your toughness and intensity and what you bring every day'”. We do things right. Minnesota and Green Bay are 6-2 at the season’s midpoint.

The Vikings haven’t picked up many style points, so they’ll still be considered underdogs to overtake the NFC North from the Packers despite being tied at the top of the division at the midpoint of the season. Zimmer then pretty much blew past Rams coach Jeff Fisher during what was supposed to be the traditional, friendly postgame handshake.

Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein made four field goals, including a 53-yarder with 12 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. I think our guys are understanding their responsibilities better and the things we’re trying to get done. Bridgewater was on the run and went into a sliding motion.

Did Joyner intentionally lower his shoulder and forearm into Bridgewater’s head when he could have pulled up and respected Bridgewater’s surrendering slide?

Bridgewater left the game and was taken to the Vikings’ training room to be evaluated for a concussion.

Asked if he called the NFL about the hit, Zimmer said, “My conversations with the league, I think we’ll keep between me and the league”. Zimmer felt that it was obviously an intentional act by Joyner under the command of Fisher and Williams.

“It’s a part of the game”. I was able to sit back and watch him. “I hope he returns to play as soon as he can”, Fisher said. And he has to bend to make sure he makes contact with Bridgewater’s helmet.

“I wasn’t surprised because it happened to me in 2006”, Harrison said during NBC’s Football Night in America. “Was it intentional? Not at all”. In the receiving end, Stefon Diggs had 42 yards in three receptions.

The Vikings capitalized on the opening and marched downfield, leading to a Blair Walsh game winning field goal. Bridgewater completed 13 of 21 passes for 144 yards with an interception and a rushing touchdown before the injury.

Peterson also scored his fourth touchdown of the season, as Minnesota ran for 145 yards against the NFL’s ninth-ranked rush defense.

If Bridgewater is unable to play, veteran backup Shaun Hill would get the start against Oakland. That was not penalized. Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has a history with these kinds of hits, having been suspended for a year after creating the infamous “Bountygate” scandal. Defensively, the Vikings yield 229.3 yards in passing and 104.7 yards in rushing.
