Vikings place Adrian Peterson on Injured Reserve

He missed three four games then, and coach Mike Zimmer has not hidden his disappointment with Floyd’s inability to stay healthy.

Peterson, who tore his meniscus when Green Bay Packers linebacker Kyler Fackrell tackled him in the third quarter of the Vikings’ win Sunday night, had surgery to fix his meniscus, rather than an operation to trim the torn cartilage, which might have brought him back in a matter of weeks.

“Adrian Peterson had a successful lateral meniscus fix this morning”, the team said.

“The Vikings have placed running back Adrian Peterson on injured reserve, the team announced Friday”.

The team has not yet made a move to put Peterson on injured reserve. Kalil and Peterson had their surgeries performed by team physician Chris Larson at Twin Cities Orthopedics. He found no additional injuries or issues in or surrounding the knee joint during the procedure, the statement said. “The rehabilitation process will begin immediately”. Prior to this season, teams had to designate whether a player from injured reserve was done for the year or could return to the team later in the season. “Peterson, 31, suffered a torn meniscus on Sunday, just two games into his 10 pro season”.

Jerick McKinnon will handle the primary workload with Matt Asiata serving as a short-yardage and goal line runner. The team doesn’t have to decide until later which player it wants to bring back. The Vikings called Kalil’s procedure successful.
