Vikings place Peterson on injured reserve
After surgery to fix the knee he injured against the Packers last weekend, the team announced their star running back has been placed on injured reserve.

The Vikings moved Peterson to injured reserve but can activate one player from the list provided he misses eight weeks.
Despite his colorful run, the fact is Adrian Peterson did show up last season and shone for the Vikings. The Vikings announced Friday that Kalil had undergone successful hip surgery, and that defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd had underwent successful surgery on his right knee.
Peterson had an MRI that revealed a torn meniscus and had been waiting to hear back from Dr James Andrews, who performed extensive surgery on his knee in 2011, before making a decision.
Kalil went on injured reserve after struggling through the first two games, effectively ending his season.
Peterson turns 32 in March, making him ancient in National Football League running back terms.
In case anyone was holding out hope of another superhuman recovery time for running back Adrian Peterson, the Minnesota Vikings appear to have put the kibosh on that idea.
For the Browns, with injuries mounting and morale wavering after the team blew a 20-2 lead over the Ravens on Sunday, the season once again feels over before it began. “I think they’re both different types of runners, but I think the combination of the two can help us”, Zimmer said. When asked if he planned to be team’s starter against San Diego on Sunday, Luck said, “Absolutely”.
The Vikings started the season with Super Bowl aspirations, even after quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down just over a week before the opener with a devastating knee injury. He’ll instead have to make plays to get the Patriots on the board against a strong Texans team with a very good defense. The duo combined to rush for 1,108 yards in 15 games in 2014, when Peterson missed 15 games.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford looked impressive last week against the Green Bay Packers despite only being with the team since the first week of September. The rookie had a breakout game Sunday, scoring two touchdowns in a 25-20 loss to the Ravens.
Peterson suffered an injury during the Vikings 17-14 win over the Green Bay Packers. He finished, completing 11 of 19 passes for 103 yards, and he also ran for a 27-yard touchdown.

“Obviously, there was a situation that we became aware of this morning and we just don’t have all the details yet”, Koetter said.
