Vikings put Adrian Peterson on injured reserve

Kalil was operated on Friday by team physician Dr. Chris Larson, who performed the fix of running back Adrian Peterson’s torn meniscus in his right knee the day before.

According to Adickes, Peterson could have avoided surgery by removing the meniscus instead of repairing it, but that would’ve led to a very arthritic knee later in life for the running back, eventually requiring a joint replacement.

“The rehabilitation process will begin immediately”, the team said. He suffered the injury Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers in his first game at U.S. Bank Stadium. He suffered a torn ACL in December 2011 and returned the next season to rush for 2,097 yards, the second-most in National Football League history. If Garoppolo can’t play, wide receiver Julian Edelman will back up Jacoby Brissett unless the team adds another quarterback to the roster. The Vikings might have to lean even more on a defense that has forced three turnovers in each of the first two games and kept both opponents well under 100 yards rushing.

Peterson made a swift recovery from a torn ACL in his left knee suffered in the second-to-last game of the 2011 season.

The Vikings will need to get their wounded offense moving somehow, and it is not likely the latest addition, former Broncos running back Hillman, will be ready to do that. Going back to last season, they’ve also put up at least 31 points in their last seven home games, including dropping 46 on the San Francisco 49ers last week.

The Vikings will still be without starting left tackle Matt Kalil, leaving 2015 4th round pick TJ Clemmings with the starting spot. It’s something they’ll absolutely have to do in this one if they want to have a chance to win.

“We definitely get very competitive during these weeks and we have a 1-1 tally going on”, Ryan Kalil said. “If he’s healthy enough, Peterson could come off IR in December”.

Jimmy Garoppolo might not play again this season after getting hurt against the Miami Dolphins on September 18, 2016 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Benjamin Franklin said this and they are words to. The Panthers happen to have one of the better ones out there, and defensive end Kony Ealy will get every opportunity to stop the run and rush the passer. It makes all the sense in the world to go in that direction, unless Peterson is willing to take a massive pay cut. Before, opposing defenses forced the quarterback to beat them.

More likely starter down the road: McKinnon, Asiata or Hillman?
