Vikings: QB Bridgewater has dislocated knee, torn ACL

Now in his third National Football League season, Bridgewater threw for 3,231 yards and 14 touchdowns last season.

If the team has to move forward without Bridgewater, Zimmer is confident in its ability to do so.

Bridgewater uncontested in a non-contact drill, backing up, looking for a receiver, planting his foot, going down immediately.

“I don’t know yet”, Zimmer said after being asked if he will add another quarterback. The Vikings are calling Teddy Bridgewater’s injury a “Significant” one. “The injury could be quickly diagnosed as something serious from the reactions of everyone at practice and the visible and audible pain that Bridgewater was in”.

The ambulance call for Teddy Bridgewater lists “dislocated knee” as the injury.

The team announced that Bridgewater also dislocated his left knee and sustained other structural damage, though he has no nerve or arterial damage.

Vikings Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer Eric Sugarman on Teddy Bridgewater released the following statement about the starting quarterback’s injury. Bridgewater will have surgery in the next few days, and is expected to make a full recovery. Bridgewater’s 2016 season coming to an end thanks to a horrific knee injury that reportedly left numerous Vikings players visibly distraught and forced the practice to be canceled early. I would like to thank all of the medical professionals and our athletic training staff for all of their help today.

Bridgewater had overcome an off-season shoulder injury and played spectacularly at times in the pre-season, especially in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against San Diego. Many stayed glued to social media in order to get any update possible on the young man’s condition, what happened, and how long the team will be without him. Roughly 10 minutes later, an ambulance showed up.

Bridgewater started all 16 games a year ago while leading the Vikings to the postseason. “He always found a way to do it, so we’re going to figure out a way”. With the next round of preseason cuts almost complete, we are getting one final idea of which players will be available. The sun will come up tomorrow and we’ll go back to work. We’re not going to go tuck our legs.

Shaun Hill, the Vikings’ backup quarterback, will take over as the starter, but Minnesota has very little depth behind him. This isn’t about a one-man deal. We have a good football team. We have a good team.
