Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater goes down in practice with knee injury

In a surreal moment that could be relived for months and cursed for years, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down during a non-contact drill and clutched his left leg in agony less than 30 minutes into Tuesday’s practice at Winter Park.

However, in the business of the National Football League, it didn’t take long for the mindset to switch to the fact that, with Bridgewater nearly surely out for the 2016 season, Hill is now the next man up at the most important position on the field.

Zimmer said he talked with the quarterback as he was taken from the field, and said he’s spoken to Bridgewater’s mother, “just try to update her on what’s going on the best we can”. Bridgewater had players surrounding him, as well as players cursing about what happened to their quarterback.

In the NFL Draft the past two years, the Jets have selected two quarterbacks. This isn’t about a one-man deal.

The third-year man went down without being touched after dropping back and grabbed his left knee.

The Minnesota Vikings just cut practice short when starting QB Teddy Bridgewater went down with a knee injury. With the next round of preseason cuts almost complete, we are getting one final idea of which players will be available. The thing we have to all remember is this is about a team. “I feel awful if this is significant for Teddy, but this is about the team”.

Without Bridgewater, though, the Vikings won’t be able to take down the top teams in the conference.

“Well, you know today is a disappointing day”, Zimmer said. His role in the offense was lessened a year ago because the team leaned on rushing champion Adrian Peterson, but he was still a big part of the Vikings winning the NFC North. “He is going to trust us as receivers and he’s going to trust his linemen”.

It certainly sounds bad, but it should be stressed again that the team hasn’t said anything official. The Vikings attempted the fewest passes per game (28.4) last season, which might leave some to wonder why there is so much concern in Minneapolis.

The Vikings say they will release more details on Bridgewater’s injury as soon as they get the tests results.

DOLPHINS: Defensive end Dion Jordan was placed on the reserve non-football injury list, meaning he’s ineligible for the first six games of the season. Ball recorded 18 tackles in 15 games with Chicago last season. “That’s what we’re going to do”.
