Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has torn meniscus, timetable uncertain

Peterson was unable to put any weight on his leg as he was carried to the locker room after suffering the injury, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

He has not been ruled out of Sunday’s game in Charlotte, N.C., against the Carolina Panthers. Bradford didn’t start Minnesota’s first game but he was under center for their most recent.

“We’re going through the evaluation process”, Zimmer said.

“We won and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters”, he said.

Another factor in the sense of calm is Peterson’s quiet start.

In the Packers’ 17-14 loss to Minnesota on Sunday night, he trio of Eddie Lacy (12 carries for 50 yards), James Starks (seven carries for three yards) and Randall Cobb (one carry for one yard) combined for 20 rushes for 54 yards, a 2.7-yard average. Assuming Rodgers can make the few adjustments described above, and his skill-position weapons can continue to round into form, Rodgers should be well-prepared for a bounce-back game against this Vikings team at home on Christmas Eve. “You just move on”. “Sam Bradford, for instance, went a different route – through a tunnel in the southeast corner of the stadium – when he left the field and came back in the middle of the game following what looked to be some trouble with his left hand”.

Thankfully, quarterback Sam Bradford, whom the team traded for following Bridgewater’s injury, had a career-best performance in his Vikings debut. But losing both – no matter how pedestrian Peterson’s numbers were before tearing his right meniscus Sunday night against the Packers – is asking far too much.

“He faded back away from the rusher and kind of let Diggs get open”, Zimmer said.

Asiata handled the majority of rushing attempts when Peterson was suspended for 15 games in 2014. That’s brutal, and confirms the snap judgment that Peterson seems to be getting hit in the backfield an terrible lot this season. “Hopefully we’re in a position to play for something then”.

Green Bay responded with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter after Rodgers ran it in from 10 yards out. “We put good pressure on the quarterback, particularly with the four-man rush”.

Zimmer said he was confident his team would recover after what is another devastating blow to their offensive unit. “We’re not going to be the only team in the league to have to deal with injuries this season”. “He’s got some things we’re looking at there”, said McCarthy, who added there’s no initial concern about Matthews’ status. Bradford completed 22 of 31 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns in a 17-14 win over Green Bay in the first regular-season game at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Minnesota signed free agents Alex Boone and Andre Smith to shore up an offensive line that had a bad year last year, and the early returns on the unit as a whole have not been good. That will likely require a boost of confidence in his receiving corps, which brings us to our next point.
