Vikings RB Adrian Peterson To Have Surgery

Of course, I am kidding-there are plenty.

Running back Adrian Peterson might not miss the rest of the 2016 season, but he won’t play until at least Week 11 after the Minnesota Vikings placed him on injured reserve Friday.

The Vikings, who put left tackle Matt Kalil on injured reserve with a hip injury Wednesday and lost Peterson this week, also will be without defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd on Sunday.

The Broncos rode a dominant defense to the Super Bowl championship last season, with DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller, Aqib Talib and crew helping a weakened Peyton Manning win his second title.

In his stead, Jerick McKinnon will start for Minnesota, which also signed Ronnie Hillman for depth.

“I have a lot of confidence in those two guys”, coach Mike Zimmer said on Monday.

“Everything is possible”, Zimmer said.

“Obviously, there was a situation that we became aware of this morning and we just don’t have all the details yet”, Koetter said. It could be three weeks, four weeks. The team is ranked seventh in defense overall and seventh in passing yards given up (198.0 yards per game). These are not the Panthers that almost went undefeated last season.

“The rehabilitation process will begin immediately”, the team said. I knew he was hurt when he had to be carried off, and by the way his leg was after seeing the play.

Peterson has carried the ball in 122 games in his National Football League career, amassing more than 2,400 carries – 722 more carries than the ageless wonder in Pittsburgh, 33-year-old running back DeAngelo Williams. The Vikings might have to lean even more on a defense that has forced three turnovers in each of the first two games and kept both opponents well under 100 yards rushing.

It’s not clear whether the Vikings’ all-time leading rusher will return this season. Take our shots when we get a chance.

The Minnesota Vikings were dealt back-to-back brutal blows to start their 2016 season. While that seems like a pretty daunting task for any player, especially since the typical age of decline for running backs is 30, if anyone can do it, it’s likely going to be Peterson.

“It’s going to be tough. He’s got good physical talent and has improved steadily since he’s been here since back in the draft in May”.
