It will be necessary in Sunday’s home opener against Detroit.

After the 26-16 thumping by the Vikings on Sunday, the Lions couldn’t take time to lick their wounds on Monday.

It felt good for a lot of Vikings.

Minnesota will want a better game from Adrian Peterson, who didn’t have a good game last week against the 49ers.

Peterson also turned an almost-sack by Kyle Van Noy into a 49-yard reception, when Bridgewater underhanded him the ball as he fell. They had five yards rushing after a quarter and 14 yards on eight carries while trailing 17-10 at the half. “Things worked themselves out, he’s back here and Rio will have to wait because the Lions are who he is up against this weekend”. Over his last three home games of 2014, all Vikings victories, Bridgewater had a 70 percent completion rate with five touchdowns and two interceptions. That means if the Lions are going to turn things around offensively, they have to find a way to turn down the heat on Stafford.

1 overall pick in the 2009 National Football League draft, has stayed rather healthy and displayed significant toughness after early injuries threatened to permanently alter his career for the worse. Peterson also had a 49-yard reception, when Bridgewater underhanded him the ball to stave off a sack. Peterson did have trouble holding on to the football as he fumbled three times, losing one and one being offset due to an encroachment penalty on the Lions.

“My intention is to try and get as ready to practice this week, and we’ll see what happens”, Stafford said in a radio interview Monday on WJR of Detroit. “We’ll put in a little more work next week”. Johnson found a way to get open eventually, finishing with 10 catches for 83 yards and one score.

Peterson was not able to find the end zone, but set up multiple touchdowns by running for positive yards in the midfield.

For now, however, the Vikings appear to be more concerned about themselves and fixing their minds after a game several players called “humbling” and “embarrassing”. He threw for 286 yards, but if he would have been more accurate, the numbers would have been better.

Lions coach Jim Caldwell, meanwhile, did not agree with Tate’s assessment. “But he hung in there”. In this week’s game, the rusher should receiver around 20 rush attempts. I was up front and honest with them but I’m smart enough to understand that was one game and we didn’t play like Vikings play.

BACK TO BACK: Early in the fourth quarter, Stafford’s deep heave for Johnson was picked off by Harrison Smith, a turnover wiped out when Xavier Rhodes was flagged for pass interference. Having said that, if your level of respect for Matthew Stafford didn’t move up a level or two after Sundays gang beating, then I really don’t know whats wrong with you.
