Vikings send RB Adrian Peterson to IR
Adrian Peterson’s future with the Minnesota Vikings may no longer be secured and his recent procedure to fix a torn meniscus may have just made it worse. ESPN reported that the minimum recovery time for that is three to four months.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer acknowledged on Wednesday that Peterson’s injury could be season-ending.
However, if it’s a fix Peterson has, he likely would be out at least three months.
The team also put left tackle Matt Kalil on injured reserve as he will have hip surgery. That danger goes double for the Carolina Panthers this week as they prepare for the Minnesota Vikings, who have been devastated by injuries this season.
Two yards downfield, Fackrell piggybacked onto Peterson. We’re going to go forward.
At running back, Jerick McKinnon, a shifty runner and good pass catcher, will start and share the position with Matt Asiata, whose strength is short yardage and pass protection. Will the Vikings get another look at Adrian Peterson this season or is there a chance he will not return? This is the fourth time this season that Luck has not practiced or been listed as limited on the team’s injury report.
“It depends on how bad the meniscus is, ” Zimmer said. He was operated by team physician Dr. Chris Larson, who performed Peterson’s procedure.
Peterson, though, told ESPN he has what is called a “bucket handle tear”.
In two games this season, Howsare played three snaps on offense and was in on 30 special teams plays. McCarthy, though, called that perhaps overly optimistic, saying a fix likely would sideline Peterson for six or more months.
“I haven’t been here long, but I think we’ve got a great group of running backs”, quarterback Sam Bradford said.
It increases the degree of difficulty, yes, but in Zimmer’s mind, the Vikings’ task isn’t impossible.
While Hillman said he doesn’t know any of his new teammates, he said he’s familiar with the team’s 2-0 start. “They’re both different types of runners, but I think the combination of the two can help us”.
The speedy McKinnon’s skill set differs from that of the powerful Peterson, but he is a big play waiting to happen, as evidenced by a career yards-per-carry average of 4.9. “It’s just the next man up”.
Can Peterson come back strong from his recent injury like he did in 2012?

“It’s the NFL, ” Boone said. With his performance dramatically declining, the Vikings may not be in a hurry to take him back, either. He could carve out a nice role sharing the rock with teams around the National Football League (imagine him in a mentor role to Ezekiel Elliott behind the supreme offensive line with his hometown Cowboys!), including on the Vikings.
