The Tennessee Titans will face off against the Minnesota Vikings in their season opener at Nissan Stadium Sunday.

“It was a prime-time game – a Monday night game – and we came out slow”, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said. Then things went downhill, despite the Vikings doing everything they can to manufacture him touches: he managed just 25 yards from scrimmage and produced 1,044 all-purpose yards a year ago, leading to his appearance in a mere 9.1 percent of the team’s snaps.

From Tarvaris Jackson to Kelly Holcomb to Brooks Bollinger to Gus Frerotte to Donovan McNabb to Joe Webb to Christian Ponder to Josh Freeman to Matt Cassel, the Vikings have failed to find a long-term solution at the sport’s most important position.

Without a real backup option behind Bridgewater, Minnesota went shopping for a commodity only a king’s ransom could garner. Also, wide receiver Jordy Nelson is back after an injury wiped him out for all of 2015, and there are the usual reports that running back Eddie Lacy has slimmed down.

Hill got the majority of first-team snaps during the brief open portions of Vikings’ practices on Monday and Wednesday, and the quarterbacks were splitting first-team snaps Thursday. Hill (63.3 percent) and Bradford (65 percent) had functionally identical numbers the last time they each started more than half a season (2014 for Hill and 2015 for Bradford), while both averaged around seven yards per attempt. The Titans still have the likes of Kendall Wright and Delanie Walker to provide some support for Mariota in the passing game. He’s had a very good preseason. The foundation is the best running back in the game (Adrian Peterson) and a great young defense. The new deal keeps him locked up through the 2017 season. San Francisco finished 5-11. “Like I told him before, just mentally having your mind set on the things you want to accomplish and continuing to push yourself and believe in yourself”.

Bridgewater completed 292 of 447 passes for 3,231 yards with 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season to lead the Vikings to an NFC North title and garner a Pro Bowl bid. Murray prefers to hit the line with a head of steam, something the Titans have no-doubt taken into account. Whenever Murray needs a break, Heisman Trophy victor Derrick Henry will be ready to come in.
