Vikings vs Bengals preseason week 1: 5 things to watch for

Waynes started out with the first team – an injured Terence Newman did not make the trip – but was replaced about a third of the way through the practice by Jabari Price after he was ailing.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater walks the field following a joint NFL football practice with the Cincinnati Bengals, Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, in Cincinnati.

The Vikings bring their revamped offensive line and their highly-ranked defense to Paul Brown Stadium (for a couple of series, anyway).

“It was great these past two days competing against the Cincinnati Bengals”.

Kevin McDermott has only played one season for the Vikings and did so while functioning at football’s most obscure position.

The Vikings practice with the Bengals in Cincinnati the next two days, then face them in their opening pre-season game in Cincinnati on Friday night.

Zimmer built the Bengals into one of the NFL’s top defenses. “Even though we’re still young, I think it’s nice having a veteran team that can kind of have some recall as we continue to go forward”. Boyd was a second-round draft pick by the Bengals and will be the starting slot receiver from day one.

The Vikings visited the Bengals in 2013 for a regular-season game, but Rudolph was sidelined with a broken foot. “But I definitely don’t think there are a lot of guys who’d want to play an 18-game season”. If the Vikings want to have a playoff caliber offense, Kalil must do a better job in both the passing and running game. However, following the season, the Bengals looked to go in a different direction and he left as a free agent.

That matchup isn’t likely to be seen Friday night because Brown, Ben Roethlisberger and Le’Veon Bell, the stalwarts of Pittsburgh’s offense, figure to sit it out. 2 and 3 wide receivers, Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones, fled via free agency, creating a huge void in the receiver corps. If all works out for the Vikings, it really might feel like old times for Peterson.

“I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t Marvin Lewis and them”, Zimmer said.

Smith initially was going to battle Phil Loadholt to start at right tackle, but when Loadholt retired before the beginning of camp, it pretty much left him in the role.

“Tyler’s exceeded my expectations at things”, Lewis said.

So should we expect Super Bowl glory?

Tackle Andre Smith has had weight issues during his National Football League career.

Billings will undergo an MRI, and according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, the team has “cautious optimism” the test won’t reveal a season-ending injury. Dalton is the unquestioned starter, he’s coming off the best season of his career, and has shown no ill-effects from the thumb injury.

“There’s no hard feelings”, Smith said. “He threw the ball well”.

“Oh yeah, we were very dominant a year ago in the practices”, cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones said.
