We’ve already played 12 games.

Remi Garde is expected to adopt a similar approach that earned his side a vital 0-0 draw against Manchester City when Villa take on Everton this weekend.

“Seven players were missing [during the worldwide break] but I was really pleased to have players like Jores and Tiago [Ilori] back – players that I didn’t know very well, to be fair”.

“I believe in this squad”.

There are 72 French players now in the Premier League, meaning France is the second most represented nation in the division after England.

There was also a second statement from the Premier League today, but whether this is the full public statement they talked about earlier in the week or not, I’m not sure.

The defender was ruled out for the season after suffering knee ligament damage on worldwide duty with France’s under-21s earlier this month.

“It’s a big blow for everybody because Jordan has been doing very well since the beginning of the season”, Garde told AVTV. When you know your family is safe it’s one point, but when you saw what happened – everybody has been affected a lot.

“As I’ve said Jordan Amavi has been injured but Jordan Ayew scored a goal and is now coming back with confidence”. Ciaran Clark has qualified for Euro, which is very good. So the balance may be good.

Roberto Martinez’s Everton are targeting a tilt at the top four, but Garde says his side will be ready for the challenge. I was scared a little bit but just for two hours because I had her on the phone and it was okay.

Villa’s only other current injury concerns are with strikers Rudy Gestede and Gabby Agbonlahor, as the former faces a late fitness test ahead of the Everton game after picking up a knock while with the Benin squad, while the latter continues to deal with the nagging calf problem that has plagued him for several weeks.

“We don’t have much time between games before travelling to Everton, but it’s the same for them. This is the way football is now”.
