Villa’s Amavi out for the season

The left-back suffered the injury while on global duty with France Under-21s during their 1-0 European qualifying win over Northern Ireland on Thursday and has consequently been ruled out for the remainder of 2015/16.

He was taken to hospital before undergoing scans on Friday and Villa have now confirmed that the news is not good for the defender.

English football club Aston Villa on Sunday confirmed that defender Jordan Amavi has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The club released an official statement on their website wishing the player a speedy recovery.

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde says his team will feel confident after holding the potent attack of Man City to a scoreless draw.

Amavi was signed from Nice on a five-year deal in the summer for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £9-10m.

Whether or not this will see an early return for Joe Bennett whose out on a loan spell with Eddie Howe at Bournemouth until January or not remains to be seen but presumably we do have a recall clause built in and to be fair Bournemouth wouldn’t miss him as he hasn’t played for them yet, so his hopes of getting a few more regular Premier League run outs under his belt hasn’t quite worked out.
