Manchester City’s Champions League implosion continued with a 2-1 defeat at home to Juventus.

And the skipper admits he felt his team would go on to win from that position: “There was really nothing to be anxious about when we scored”.
“There was only one team on the pitch and that was Juventus”, he told Mediaset Premium.
Earlier in the match, Pogba had provided a superb cross to allowed Mario Mandzukic to level for the Serie A champions following Giorgio Chiellini’s own goal.
But Kompany says that, although some have claimed this is yet another City flop in the elite European competition, it is not as worrying as previous home disappointments against Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
“It’s tough to watch it. We saw them play so well at the weekend [against Crystal Palace] and since the start of the season with all of their great players, but the fright set in and Juventus took advantage of it”. However, referee Damir Skomina deemed the goal good, and City had a 1-0 lead.
City yet to find the success mantra for Champions League, till then Pellegrini’s side would have to be satisfied with EPL success.
Despite Raheem Sterling forcing Gianluigi Buffon into an excellent save after just two minutes, Juventus had a fairly comfortable first-half and even had the ball in the back of the City net. “At the end they took their chances, we were not lucky enough to score the goals and we paid the price”.
“Definitely, we have not handled most of our games in the Champions League well”, Kompany said.
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has moved to ease fears about the calf injury he suffered in the Champions League game against Juventus on Tuesday.
“The most important thing is we won and reminded people that when we play together as we know we can, we are among the best in Europe”.
‘I don’t think we deserved to lose.

Despite their contrasting fortunes domestically this season, there was little between the sides as City struggled to make any inroads against a compact defence. “Fortunately he did not have any problems and I hope he will be fit for Saturday”.
