Violinist Itzhak Perlman cancels performance over LGBT law
There can be no doubt that this is bad for business in North Carolina.

In an interview with the Associated Press on Tuesday, Perlman said he will not perform in North Carolina until the state’s law limiting antidiscrimination policies for LGBT people is reversed.
Olson, who represented the Bush campaign in the 2000 recount and later served as solicitor general, has become an unlikely ally for LGBT causes.
In an op-ed titled North Carolina Governor’s Ignorance of Trans Identity, John points out that McCrory signed the bill into law after admitting that he had never met a transgender person.
Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin praised Olson as “one of the nation’s leading conservative legal minds” as he told allies in an email on Wednesday.
Olson will be aided by two other veterans of the Proposition 8 litigation, Gibson Dunn partners Theodore J. Boutrous, Jr. and Matthew D. McGill.
“The safety justifications that have been offered for this law are utterly insupportable”, Boutrous said. “[It] is about the dignity and respect we accord our fellow citizens.’ I couldn’t agree more and will look forward to returning to North Carolina when this discriminatory law is repealed”.
Several celebrities have come out against HB2, with some canceling performances in North Carolina.

“Schools work on an individual basis with students and families, so there is not a record or report that tracks [whether transgender students use non-gender neutral restrooms] other than individual student records, which are protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)”, Neal said. It also compels the same type of discrimination against transgender people to take place in publicly-owned buildings, including in public universities, major airports, and convention centers.
