Virender Sehwag applies for India coach’s post, Moody in fray
Former India opener Virender Sehwag is among the candidates who have applied for the Indian cricket team’s coaching job. “He should have a vision for Indian cricket which would carry Indian cricket forward for the next 8 to 10 years”, Gavaskar said.

Attempting to reassure fans, Gavaskar said an invitations for the applications did not reflect the tensions in the Kohli-Kumble relationship.
When asked about the Indo-Pak rivalry on the field, Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed looked confident during a press conference before the tournament. Along with Kohli, some other members of the team are also disappointed with the coach because of his methods and style of functioning.
Meanwhile, in recent weeks, Kumble made presentations to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) and to BCCI officials where he requested for pay hikes for players and coaches.
Shirke, however, said that Kumble had called him and “expressed his desire to coach India” after he became the BCCI secretary.
Now, that the BCCI has started the search, many names are emerging.
Ganesh was a right-arm medium-fast bowler who was the top performer for his domestic team, Karnataka, at a time when it boasted of national players like Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, Anil Kumble and Sunil Joshi. “I am simply going by the results and when you go by the results of previous year, you can say he has done nothing wrong”. “Even the last time the post was up for a change the same procedure was applied”.
“You can see the full calendar and tell me at what position there was a free slot”. The Indian test team reached the ICC Number 1 spot and displayed complete dominance against England, West Indies, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Australia.

It is learnt there are three Indians in the fray. “We don’t want a scenario where the players and the coach are not on the same page” said a BCCI official earlier. If Ganguly truly believed in what he says, then why didn’t the committee pay heed to Kohli who had clearly indicated his preference for continuation with Ravi Shastri? Kumble might not be holding the steering wheel anymore.
