Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe under federal investigation for campaign contributions

McAuliffe said his legal team thoroughly investigated the $120,000 donation from Wang Wenliang through his American-based company.

McAuliffe said he is not particularly anxious about an investigation, and that he was totally unaware of it before Monday.

The fact that the investigation into Terry McAuliffe started after the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server is suspicious, to say the least.

CNN said as part of the McAuliffe probe, investigators looked at the period of time the governor served as a board member of the Clinton Global Initiative.

“This has nothing to do with Clinton Foundation”, he said at the State Arboretum of Virginia.

“There [are] no wrongdoing allegations that have been made”, McAuliffe said to reporters Tuesday after a bill-signing ceremony in Clarke County. McAuliffe said the investigation has “nothing to do with” the foundation. US election law prohibits foreign nationals to donate to political races.

Residents will be asked a few questions about where they live and their Internet service. McDonnell, a Republican, has appealed all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court; as of late April, the court appeared poised to overturn his conviction. I didn’t bring him into the Clinton foundation.

“I don’t think it will affect Hillary Clinton at all”.

CNN reported the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Justice Department’s public integrity unit are trying to determine whether donations to the campaign violated federal law.

That case, only two years ago, saw former Gov. McDonnell and first lady Maureen McDonnell convicted of using their positions to enrich themselves and their family by soliciting payments, gifts and loans from Jonnie R. Williams Sr. and Star Scientific, in exchange for promoting the company’s products. “I’m not sure if I’ve even met the person, to be honest with you”.

“I’ve already had one governor get in trouble, so it’s obviously not a good record for Virginia”, said Jim Flores.

The company of a Chinese businessman involved in a federal investigation into Virginia’s Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe pledged $2 million to the Clinton Foundation the same year that it wrote a six-figure check to McAuliffe’s campaign.

McAuliffe is a close friend of Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
