Vivo has finally taken the wraps off the Xplay 5 and the Xplay 5 Elite smartphones, carrying beastly specifications underneath. On the hardware front, Vivo has already teased that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 6GB of LPDDR RAM.

Also, the smartphone packs 4GB of RAM and an Adreno 510 graphics processing unit. The “Flagship Edition” Xplay 5 also comes replete with a 16MP f/2.0 rear camera that has phase detection autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash, as well as an 8MP f/2.4 front-facing camera.
In terms of the design, the vivo Xplay 5 and Xplay 5 Elite weigh about 167.8 grams and measure 153.5 x 76.2 x 7.6 mm in dimensions. Vivo Xplay 5 Elite will hit stores on the 8th of March at CNY 4,288 (Rs. 44,300).
Both the phones run Vivo’s FunTouch OS that is based on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It shares the same dual curved QHD display, camera, battery, connectivity options, and inbuilt storage as seen with Xplay5 Elite and the size and weight dimensions remain identical too. The phone is made from aluminum magnesium alloy and has curved edges on the sides, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
The Vivo Xplay 5 price has been set at around $565, for the standard version.
Then there’s the regular version of the Xplay5, which features 4GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. It is backed by a 3,600mAh battery and includes two-chip dual-charging technology for charging the device in half of the time than the normal charging options.
Vivo has officiated the much awaited XPlay 5 and the XPlay 5 Ultimate Edition at an event in Beijing, China. While availability outside China has not been detailed yet, we expect them to launch in further regions at some point. Furthermore, the device integrates a bunch of sensors – gravity, ambient light, proximity, gyroscope, a split-screen multitasking functionality, and a fingerprint sensor at the back. Both the models will be launched in China on March 8.

The phone is being offered with a single internal storage choice of 128 GB.
