The Vixen animated series is considered canon and is firmly set within the CW’s Arrowverse that includes Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.

Vixen is a DC Comics heroine who is orphaned by local criminals in Africa and inherits her parents’ Tantu Totem, which affords her the ability to mimic the abilities of any animal that has ever lived on Earth. Meanwhile, if you want to catch up on Vixen’s animated adventures, you can check out the animated series HERE.
Although only appearing on CW Seed thus far, Mari has been a member of the DC universe on The CW from the beginning thanks to the vocal appearances of Arrows Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards, as well as The Flashs Grant Gustin and Carlos Valdes.

Back in August, Echikunwoke was asked whether she would get the opportunity to transtion to live action and she replied, “I think that was kind of the impetus behind hiring me, just to have that option”. Earlier this year, the CW announced its plans to introduce Mr. Terrific, an openly gay, black hero into the Arrow-verse. Of course, we don’t know and I think it’s all based on how well this animated series does and how rabid the fans are for more Vixen. At the time there was talk that the character, if well received, could make the jump to the live action universe. She even has links to the same real life city – Detroit – making her stand out from the fictional locales of The Flash (Central City) and Arrow (Star City).
